AC Milan vs Cagliari
2017/18 Italian Serie A.
Date: Sunday, 27 August 2017
Kick-Off: 19:45 UK,
Venue: Stadio San Siro (Milan).
AC Milan splashed quite a bit of cash this summer in a quest to bring the squad back to the forefront of not just Italy, but in Europe. The Rossoneri successfully made it through the playoff rounds of the Europa League and booked their spot in the group stages, and are aiming to naturally go as far in that competition as possible. In addition, of course, with Italy getting four spots in the Champions League, Milan are seeking to push for a top four finish, and come into this game having cruised to a very comfortable 3-0 win over last season’s debutants Crotone on matchday one.
Vincenzo Montella’s men have another pretty comfortable fixture coming up, as they host Cagliari. Their upcoming opponents, Cagliari were crushed by Juventus, which is no real surprise as the Rossoblu had one of the worst defenses in the league. In fact, the Sardinians, despite their decent attack had the worst defensive record of any team who wasn’t in the bottom three.
Milan now have added Nikola Kalinic from Fiorentina, which gives them further attacking options, but it will be interesting to see what role – if any – he will play in Sunday’s game. Given how the Diavolo have started off with a roaring start, it will be another case of damage control for Cagliari, who have not solved their defensive woes, and for all intents and purposes, this looks likely to be a pretty straightforward, comfortable win for the hosts ahead of the upcoming international hiatus.

Milan vs Cagliari: Predictions
AC Milan have won their last 12 home games against Cagliari across all competitions. Cagliari did manage to beat the Rossoneri last season, 2-1, but that was at their own home ground and the Diavolo are an entirely new side this time around. The addition of players like Franck Kessie and Leonardo Bonucci have further enhanced them in midfield and defense, and it already appears to be paying off, and Montella’s side should be able to take care of business without much fuss.
